Rory’s Lil’ Reindeer Christmas Ornament

Howdy from Oklahoma! It has been a long time for me to be able to post anything, but I am back in my studio and enjoying every minute.

Today I have a very cute Christmas ornament using Rory’s Lil’ Reindeer and some of my on-hand supplies. You can find Rory’s Lil’ Reindeer exclusively at Sweet Pea Stamps in a digital format or as a rubber stamp, which ever media you prefer to work with.

Rory and her little reindeer was printed out on X-press It blending card. After the ink had cured I was ready to color with Copics and white gel pen as accents.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, R20;
Hair: E29, 37, YR25, Y15, 26;
Antlers: E70, 71, 74, 77, 79;
Reindeer and Feedbag: E21, 23, 27;
Clothes & Scarf:
YG03,17,21, 67, and
RV13, 19, 34, 69, and
V01, 05, 06, 09;
Holly: G40, 82, 94, 99;
Basket: E23, 37, YR24, Y26, and
RV13, 19, 34, 69, and
V01, 05, 06, 09;
Shoes: C1, 3, 5, 7, 9;
Background: W00, 0, 1, 2, 3, and
White gel pen.

After the coloring I started the assembly. First I decided that the ornament was going to be oval.
I die cut the image and Fun Stampers Journey Lavender Fusion cardstock with an oval die
My oval die is Spellbinder’s Pierced Ovals from their Celebrations line.

The next steps were to trim with the cotton lace on both pieces, 2 rows of lace per piece.
The Lavender Fusion cardstock oval has a Fun Stampers Journey ATS (Artist Trading Stamps)
Merry Swirl. That stamp was stamped with white pigment ink and white embossing powder.
My gold trim is from the miniature tree section at Hobby Lobby. I always check there because some of those miniature trimmings are perfect for paper crafting. My choice for adhesive is Fun Stampers Journey's Journey Glaze.
Journey Glaze is a dimensional glaze, but quick drying when used an adhesive.
Rory’s Lil’ Reindeer ornament is complete.

 I have tied the ornament on a stand with some gold ribbon. Now it is ready for display.

Rory's Lil' Reindeer Ornament would like to enter in the following challenges:
Dragonfly Dreams – Girly project with a die cut or punch

A Winter Showcase with RSD

Happy Sunday everyone! Welcome to our second Rick St. Dennis MFA (RSD) Showcase at the Sparkle and Glitter blog. Some, and sometimes all, of Rick’s Elite Design Team (EDT) will be showcasing projects completed with some of Rick’s amazing digital images. Rick will be giving us a monthly theme and we will be picking our own images from his vast collection of images in his Etsy and Zibbet shops.

Snow Buddies was my image pick for this month’s RSD Showcase. You can find this adorable image in Rick's Zibbet shop. Snow Buddies was first colored with Copics and then trimmed with a Spellbinder’s A2 Matting Basics B die. The edges were distressed with Denim Days ink. After the ink was dry I layered the image with Stampin’ Up!’s (SU) Night of Navy cardstock and Fun Stampers Journey (FSJ) Whipped Cream cardstock.

Copics and pens/pencils used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Pups and Hair: C0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, white Prismacolor pencil
Coat: E31, 33, 35
Boots: E21, 23, 25, 27, 29, Blender for water marks
Pants, Mittens, and Eyes: B91, 93, 95, 97
Background: W00, 0, 1, 2, 4, and B91, white gel pen for faux snow

My snowflakes are from Spellbinder’s (they are listed below). They were just a little flat so I decided they needed some sparkle.  I added a glaze and glitter. Next time I want to do several layers of the glaze to give a little more 3D effect.

Supplies used and their links:
Cardstock: SU’s Night of Navy and Fun Stampers Journey Whipped Cream;
Designer paper: Heartfelt Creations Countryside Evening collection;
Dies: Spellbinder’s A2 Matting Basics B and Holly Motifs, 2013 Snowflake Pendent, Create a Flake 3, and Fun Stampers Journey Holiday Set;
Inks: FSJ Journey Denim Days;
Other: FSJ Journey Glaze and Journey Sparkle Dust, SU frosted finished embellishment.

There’s a lot happening within Rick’s camp. Are you participating in our monthly Progressive Challenge going on at our Sparkle and Glitter Blog? You have a couple of weeks to participate. The theme is “Anything Goes” and you must use an RSD image. Come check that out and hopefully you will join the fun. Also, in our RSD Facebook group our bi-weekly art contest has started again. If you missed the current one (you still have 24 hours to enter), don’t worry, a new contest will be posted tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Christmas is Just Around the Corner

Happy Friday everyone! I know a lot of you are ready for the weekend. If you all get out, keep yourselves warm. The Arctic blast that came through Oklahoma Tuesday morning has affected most of the United States.

Sweet Pea Stamps is having a “Christmas is just around the corner” blog hop. You are going to be in for a treat visiting all of Sweet Pea’s designers’ blogs. If you have come from Suzi’s blog you are on the right track.

My little Christmas project is a card designed with a Mitzi Sato-Wiuff’s “Holly Sprite.” “Holly Sprite” can be found in rubber stamp form in Sweet Pea Stamps brand new website. I hope you stop by and check it out. With this new website, and if you order digital images, your digital images will be available as instant download. How cool is that?

Holly Sprite was first colored with Copics and then trimmed with Spellbinder’s A2 Curved Matting dies.  The next step was to add some green ink around the edges, accent the berries with Journey Glaze, and layer with burgundy and olive cardstock. The olive and burgundy cardstocks were die cut with the curved matting dies also.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Coat and Shoes: RV91, 93, 95, 99
Holly Berries: R27, 29, 89
Holly Leaves: YG21, G40, 82, 94, 99
Coat Trim and Muff: C00, 0, 1, 3
Background: W00, 0, 1, 2, 3

For corner embellishments I die cut twice the olive cardstock with Spellbinder’s Holly Motifs die, embossed with the die, and accented the embossed parts with red ink. After that was dry I cut those two apart to make the eight corner embellishments. The last embellishments were red rhinestones.

My list of supplies and their links are:

Your next stop will be Olivia’s blog. Please visit each of Sweet Pea’s talented team members' blogs and leave a little love - a comment on every hop post will enter you into a drawing for a $20 gift code to the Sweet Pea Stamps store! RSD November Progressive Challenge

Happy November 1, 2014! We now have one month and 25 days until Christmas. I am definitely not ready. I hope that I can at least get the shopping done.

It is now time for our Rick St. Dennis MFA November Progressive Challenge. I know I am, and Rick and the rest of his Elite Design Team are, thrilled that this new adventure has been a success.

Unfortunately I was unable to create a project due to a medical emergency. My medical crisis happened during a lung needle biopsy. My lung collapsed and I had to stay in the hospital for three days, but all is well now, except for the command of no lifting or bending. I see my pulmonologist on Nov. 3 with the results of the biopsy and hopefully he will tell me that I can at least lift and bend. I will let everyone know the diagnosis in my next blog. I have been able to get some coloring completed though. Coloring has given me some of my sanity back. ;o)

Rick designed a very special image for me during this health trial. His gift really touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I would like to introduce you to “Oklahoma.” This image, now one more added to his ever growing “hat ladies” series, can be found in his Etsy shop with instant download.

I decided to do a little research on “Oklahoma” bonnets because I had no idea if they were even made in colors “way back then.” I really did'nt get much of an answer until I made another search on “Western” bonnets. That time I was answered. I know, I know, western and Oklahoma are synonymous, duh.  They were created in a variety of colors, plus a lot with gingham. Off I went with my Copics. Rick’s facial expressions on his drawings always shows a variety of emotions. His hair styles are always fun to color.  “Oklahoma” has very curly hair, like mine. Did you know that he was a theatrical designer at one time during his artistic career? Check out his biography.

Copics used:
Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, and R20
Hair: E11, 13, 15, 18
Bonnet: B32, 34, 37, 39
Ribbon and Bow: RV91, 93, 95, 99
Flowers: R83, 85, 59, 56, and
R21, 22, 29, and YR23
Leave and Eyes: G40, 82, 94, 99
Background: W00, 0, 1, 2, and RV91

Now for a little business. We would love it if you would join our Rick St. Dennis MFA Fans and Friends Facebook group. We are near 1,000 members and I know that you would enjoy the company. On Monday, Nov. 3, our RSD Art Contest will begin again in our Facebook group. This is “anything goes,” but you must use an RSD image. The prize is one digi of your choice from Rick’s Zibbet store.

Thanks for stopping by. Please stop by our Sparkle and Glitter blog and check out the other amazing creations made by Rick’s designers.
