CAS with Rick St. Dennis MFA

Happy Sunday! This is going to be a very short post due to the storms that are brewing in Oklahoma. In the next hour we are going to get tornadoes, hail, and thunderstorms with high winds. We have already had touchdowns in Oklahoma City. We do have a basement, thank you very much!

On to my project…this is a very simple A2 size card. I loved putting this together. It was so fast and this clean and simple style was perfect for Rick St Dennis MFA digital image, 1960 Coutoure Style Hat. His “hat ladies,” which you will find in his “Lovely Ladies” section really do not need much adornment. They say it all. Why cover up such beautiful images?

613 Avenue Create Challenge Blog and RSD

Happy Mother's Day to all! I hope you are having a fantastic day. We all deserve it!

Rick St. Dennis MFA is the sponsor over at 613 Avenue Create challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes with a Twist. That twist is no squares or rectangles allowed, but you can create an easel type project. I have the honor of being their Guest Designer for this challenge.

I took the easel route and created a Steampunk themed easel card. The image I used is Victoria McSteeme, from Rick’s EtsyShop. Take a peek at all the other lovely ladies that he has created.
Copic colors;
Skin: E000, 11, and R20;
Hat, corset, ruffles: YG 91, 93, 95, 97;
Blouse and skirt wrap: E71, 74, 77, 79;
Boots and gloves: E23, 25, 27;
Hair, feathers, boots and gloves accents: E07, 09, 19;
Background: W0,1, 2, and E17.

This was a an easy easel card to create. After my image coloring with Copics was complete I used a Spellbinder’s Grand Decorative OvalOne die on that image. I cut out the center part of that die with the image and accented with Frayed Burlap Distress ink.  I used the same die for the copper cardstock frame and attached the center part. The cogs on that section are from a chipboard collection by Make It Crafty. I used Viva Décor Inka Gold in copper and lava green to try and make them look a little more like metal. This new Viva Décor Inka Gold is a dream to use. It is a beeswax base which allows you to buff for a wonderful shine.

The bottom of the easel card was created with Spellbinder’s ovals and a smaller die from the Grand Decorative Oval One set. My collection of metal embellishments came in handy for this project. You can never have too many metal embellishments, right?

I hope you join us at 613 Avenue Create. Wait until you see what their design team comes up with using Rick’s images.

Freebie Weekend with Rick St. Dennis MFA

That time of the month again at Rick St. Dennis MFA. Rick has freebies on each of his Elite Design Team’s blogs, Sparkle and Glitter and Airless Chambers. Rick created two new designs that will soon be in his Etsy shop, but this weekend you can pick them up for FREE.

As most of you know, I am in love with my Copics, and every chance I get to color, I do. This little beauty is called “Paris High Fashion” and will be part of Rick's “Lovely Ladies” section. I really enjoyed this one. I enjoy all of his “hat ladies,” but I seem to not create with them very often. After this, that will change. The colors of Copics that I used are below the picture.

 Skin: E000, E11, R20
Hair: E50, E33, E25
Hat: BG10, BG13, BGF15, BG18
Neck Collar: RV93, RV95, RV69, R56
Fur Collar: C1, C3
Accents: Gelly Roll White and Spicas

Something else that is happening on our blogs…starting with today's freebie, you will get a chance to enter a contest using that freebie. You must use that freebie to be able to enter. Each blog will have its own contest. The contest is located under the banner. Click on page “May 2013 Freebie Contest.”

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you pick up the freebie and enter our little contest.
