A New Pirate for RSD

Happy Saturday everyone! Where did spring go? I still feel the need to hibernate. I hope we see tulips blooming soon.

Rick St. Dennis MFA has created another beautiful pirate. Meet Pirate Nayja. Rick gave each of his Elite Design Team (EDT) different instructions on what colors to use. My assignment was to use greens. I decided on olives and sages. I hope you like her. Isn't all that hair to die for? The Copics colors I have used are right below the picture.

 Pirate Nayja in green:
Skin: E000, 11, R20;
Hair: Y11, 21, E97, 99;
Sword & knife: Y15, YR23, 24;
Skirt, bodice, kerchief, hat feathers: G20, 21, 24
Boots, gloves, belt, purse, vest, hat: YG91, 93, 95, 99.

I decided to do a second version of Pirate Nayja. This one is in more neutral colors. I was trying to go for the feel of actual leather colors. I would think that pirates did wear a lot of leather.

Pirate Nayja in neutrals:
Skin: E000, 11 R20;
Hair: Y11, 21, E97, 99;
Skirt: E50, 51, 53, 55, 57, W2;
Boots, scabbard, gloves, belt, hat, vest: C2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9;
Sword & knife: Y15, YR 23, 24.

Glad you stopped by. If you need for information contact me. If you would like to see the other color variations from Rick's EDT of Pirate Nayja head over to Rick’s blog.

Summer is on Its Way!

At least we do hope we have a summer. We are still waiting on spring in Oklahoma, but this week, spring may be here at the latter part of the week. First of this week our lows were in the 20s and 30s. Thursday we are suppose to have 77° weather. Happy dance!

I would like to introduce you to one of Rick St. Dennis MFA new images, Été. Été is the French word for summer and I do hope that she looks summery.  I love roses, but unfortunately my green thumb does not include roses. I do try every year to grow them.

This little piece of art was simple to make. I colored Été with Copics (my E11 did mess up) and added Spicas for a little glitter. Stampin’Up! card stock was used for my base and die cuts. The background designer paper is from my stash. I have no idea who the designer is, but I did purchase it at Hobby Lobby. Next came the dies cuts. I cut with Spellbinder’s Les PappillionsTwo and Grateful Lattice. These two dies were introduced at the past CHA 2013 show. Rose and leaves are from my stash and accented with Crystal Stickles. Pretty easy, huh? (I will have her posted today in my Zibbet shop.)

Été will be entered in the following challenges:
Through the Craftroom Doors – Anything Goes
One Stitch at a Time – Anything Goes

That’s it for this beautiful Tuesday. I hope to see you again soon.

The Art of Belly Dancing

First I want to apologize for my MIA. Life just got in the way and I had to take a short break, but now I am back in full swing. I had to give up most of my design team positions because of my life happenings. I did, however, manage to stay with Rick St. Dennis MFA.

For my first project in over a month, I would like to introduce you to Fayuez. I decided to create an easel card. Rick’s image, Fayuez, is modeled after the real Belly Dancer. Isn’t she beautiful? The minute he sent this to me, I could not wait to set my Copics on her. Rick described her as having bright red hair, and wearing pastel colors and thousands of dollars of rhinestones. I hope I did justice to her.

I did ask Rick to start critiquing my coloring and, guess what, he did. His one and only comment was that my light source was “wandering.” I am so glad he used that rather simple term (you all know that I am a very simple country girl from Oklahoma LOL) because I knew exactly where he was talking about. My wondering light source happened in her skirt. So my challenge to me is to practice more with clothes and light source.

On to the nitty gritty…my supplies I used for my little piece of art are:

Fayuez would like to enter the following challenges:
Through the Craftroom Door – Anything Goes
No Matter Which Challenges – Anything Goes
Color Me Creative Classroom – Anything Goes

That’s it for today! If you have any questions, please contact me.
